What is there to do in the museum?

Museum Broekerveiling is the oldest sail-through auction in the world. At this historic spot in Broek op Langedijk the Dutch auction originated in 1887. Memories are kept alive by the historic auction building and the impressive mooring halls which were built over the water.

Museum Broeker Veiling is a lively museum. During the season it bristles with activities for children as well as for adults.

Every day there are guided tours in and around the museum. You can take part in a real auction in the auction hall and make a boat trip in the Realm of the Thousand Islands on the edge of which the museum is situated.

At certain times you can visit the smithy, see eel being smoked or visit the Dam Runner, the authentic wooden 'tjalk' where Captain Dirk stands at the helm.

The outdoor museum is lovely: vegetable fields, an orchard, animals, a boat ramp and original bridges. Great for a picnic.
